Will there be a fourth season of Ted Lasso, or can we expect spinoffs? Here's everything we know about the potential continuation of the beloved Apple TV show.

When Ted Lasso premiered on Apple TV in 2020, it became a soul-soothing sensation. This heartwarming series quickly captured audiences' hearts, earning critical acclaim and securing 11 Emmy wins throughout its run.

The show centers around the American coach, Ted Lasso, as he embarks on a journey to coach AFC Richmond in the UK, under the management of the vengeful ex-wife of the club's former owner. However, Ted's infectious positivity and relentless spirit win over everyone, even as he battles his own inner demons.

With the Season 3 finale airing today, fans are curious about the possibility of Ted Lasso Season 4. Let's dive into what we currently know.

Will there be a Ted Lasso Season 4?

As of now, it appears that there won't be a Ted Lasso Season 4. However, there might be spinoffs in the future.

The cast members themselves, speaking to Deadline, hinted that the recent finale signifies the end of the mainline series. Jason Sudeikis, in particular, expressed, "This is the end of this story that we wanted to tell, that we were hoping to tell, that we loved to tell."

The show's official Twitter account also seemed to confirm the finality, stating, "Tonight we play our final match. It's like what I say about the films of David Lynch. I can't tell you what's happenin', but I sure as heck don't want it to end."

However, Sudeikis also mentioned that the groundwork has been laid for potential further stories and spinoffs. He acknowledged the audience's desire for more and appreciated their support.

Brendan Hunt, who portrays Coach Beard and is a co-creator of the show, added, "Another arc is possible after this, for sure. We have always seen it as some kind of three-beat thing... It does not mean that the whole kit and caboodle is getting chucked."

Is there a release date for Ted Lasso Season 4?

As of May 2023, no release date has been announced for Ted Lasso Season 4.

Given the indications that Season 3 marks the conclusion of the main series, it is unlikely that a fourth season will happen. However, should there be any updates or changes, we will keep you informed.

Ted Lasso Season 4 cast: Who might return?

Although speculative, if Ted Lasso Season 4 were to proceed, we would expect the following cast members to reprise their roles:

  • Jason Sudeikis as Ted Lasso
  • Hannah Waddingham as Rebecca Welton
  • Brendan Hunt as Coach Beard
  • Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent
  • Juno Temple as Keeley Jones
  • Jeremy Swift as Leslie Higgins
  • Nick Mohammed as Nathan Shelley
  • Phil Dunster as Jamie Tartt
  • Toheeb Jimoh as Sam Obisanya
  • Cristo Fernández as Dani Rojas
  • Kola Bokinni as Isaac McAdoo
  • Billy Harris as Colin Hughes
  • James Lance as Trent Crimm
  • Andrea Anders as Michelle Lasso
While other actors from the series could also potentially return, until there is concrete information from the show's creators, it remains speculative.

Ted Lasso Season 4 plot: What could it entail?

Although no official details about the plot have been revealed, if Ted Lasso Season 4 were to happen, it might follow Richmond's journey as they compete in the Champions League, while Ted navigates his relationship with Michelle back in the United States.

For now, Ted's stay in America seems likely, as he missed his son throughout Season 3. The finale left open possibilities for another season or spinoff, including the introduction of a women's team, Roy becoming the team's new manager, and Nate's return to the club.

Brendan Hunt stated, "We've always seen it as a three-part thing... So, we definitely treated it like the end of that story. Whether or not people will be happy with that – the people are very unpredictable. I think there's 20 spin-offs that we could do, but maybe we won't do any of them. I don't know... I only hope that if we do them, they are animated musicals."

Nick Mohammed, who portrays Nate, expressed cautiousness about spinoffs, given the massive success of Ted Lasso. He acknowledged the challenge of capturing the right essence but remained open to the possibility.
